FACTT trial

The NEJM published results from the FACTT trial on the 5/25 issue: "PAC-guided therapy did not improve survival or organ function but was associated with more complications than CVC-guided therapy."
Had you been using PACs often for management of ALI/ARDS and do you think this will further change your practice?

I've basically seen PACs reduced to use in diagnosing/managing pulmonary hypertension, so the results of the trial only serve to justify the restricted use rather than change my practice. While they may not be particularly helpful for patients, PACs come in handy when writing test questions and appeared frequently on the CCM boards last year.
