Follow-up to mometasone question

We had had this discussion on the PI for the new mometasone autohaler (Asmanex) and the expiration period of 45 days for the inhaler.
We contacted our Schering rep and they have had tis question from many practitioners: it seems that it is a stable molecule, it will last more than the 45 days and we can prescribe the 60-dose inhaler to save patients some money (they are both priced the same). The explanation is that they only studied the use of each inhaler up to 45 days so they had to add that disclaimer to the PI.

Again I smell a rat. This is the only ICS or DPI product where the rep brought up this point. Usually a short expiration date is not readily volunteered by a rep and I have experienced reps bashing others products over this issue. I suspect the reason they push this point is to discourage use of the 60 dose over 60 days
